Charbel Rouhana

It is the heart of Arab musical culture: the oud. And he is one of its great masters: Charbel Rouhana. As early as the 1980s, this virtuoso and musicologist developed his own playing method – thereby redefining the instrument. Together with a top-class ensemble featuring the long-necked lute buzuq, accordion, double bass and percussion, Rouhana unleashes the full expressive power of the oud: between deeply rooted tradition and free improvisation, a musical dialogue emerges that constantly reinvents itself.
